Free Up Space With More Convenient Furniture
Our homes are not exactly what they used to be. Now, we have much more in demand on every single room, making them multifunctional spaces which can sometimes lead to overly stuffed rooms. If you take a good look around you, you’ll probably find that there are more people that are starting to entertain at home, rather than go out to restaurants and bars. Each of them have their own reasons for doing so, but that leads to many people having to redecorate some rooms.
That may mean having to redecorate your dining room. If this is the case with you, then consider a black dining room set. Nowadays, you can find all kinds of materials finished in this color, making it a very rich and attractive set. For example, you can easily find lacquered furniture or very matte wooden sets, so it won’t be difficult to find something that suits your needs and your style.
What you have to consider is the size of your new set, and to ensure that it fits comfortably with the measurements you have to work with.
As for the bedrooms, there are lots of solutions that didn’t really exist until the last few years. That’s because designers have realized these multitasking rooms needing help and taking advantage of all the space in the bedroom that there really is. Bedrooms have become actual living spaces and work spaces, and even workout rooms. One solution is to opt for a loft bed with desk. Your desk will be under your bed, freeing up a good amount of space in other parts of the bedroom.
As for adults, a full size loft bed can also be the answer to an overly stuffed or overly cluttered room. Don’t forget, a large bed can really take up a lot of precious space that could be put to better use.
If you really consider it, bunk beds were always used in the past when children had to share a room. It just freed up lots more space and took advantage of the vertical space available. It’s sort of the same concept with these types of beds. If you’re worried about finding those that will suit your style, don’t. There’s lots out there to choose from.
Maximizing Your Small Living Space
If you are moving to a dorm, renting a room in a bigger apartment, or moving to a studio apartment, you are probably concerned about how to live in a small space. If the space is not utilized properly, you can feel cramped and the area can look cluttered and crowded. But this doesn’t have to be the case. If you make a few smart purchases and put in the time to set up the room intelligently, your small space can be very comfortable.
Cooking Area
Depending on the set-up of your space, you may share a kitchen area with others, you may have a small one of your own, or you may not have one at all. Very few dorm rooms have stoves, and the same is true for some studio apartments as well. You may have a small refrigerator, but your cooking options may be limited. For this reason, there are certain appliances, such as a microwave, a hot plate, or a stainless steel rice cooker, that can be very useful when moving into this type of environment.
Furniture
Furniture that is the right size and shape for your space can make it look and feel much bigger; furniture that is wrong can do the opposite. Lots of people will choose a loft bed for a small space. This is a bed that is raised above the ground and accessed using a ladder.
Dorm rooms are usually furnished for you, so your options will be somewhat limited. A loft bed with desk is a very common item of furniture to find in a dorm room. The lofted bed allows for the full use of the floor space, as opposed to a regular bed or mattress, which takes up a good amount of the space itself. Even with a desk attached, there is usually enough room left underneath a dresser and possibly another chair or a small couch.
Studio apartments are usually not furnished. A rented room may or may not be furnished, depending on the arrangement. If you are moving into an empty space, a lofted bed is definitely an option to consider. You also might want to think about getting a futon. Futons sit on the ground, so they do take up more space than loft beds, but they can be turned into couches during the day. With a futon, you have a place to sleep and a place for company to sit all in one. Folding chairs can be helpful too, since they can be stored when you do not need them.
These are just a few tips for maximizing your small space. You can find all sort of other tips and tricks as well. Your small room does not have to feel like a cell; it can be a great place to live.
One Sunshiny Summer Day In August
Seated on kitchen bar stools, the two moms chatted amicably as they sipped their diet soda. The two girls were smiling and laughing as they blew bubbles with the bubble soap and wands they had. What a great summer activity.
They sat at the tempered glass top patio table under a bright green umbrella to shade them from the sun. They were both five and looking forward to school in the fall. It would be a big change in their lives.
They would need a new wardrobe including new rain boots, raincoat and umbrella. The children’s umbrellas were now made without any sharp points to harm the kids. They loved the fact they could color coordinate the raincoat, boots and umbrella.
They chatted on about what stores to shop at for the best bargains. The school had already mailed each mom a list of what the kids needed to bring to class. In addition to school supplies, each child was asked to bring a large box of tissues to share, box by box with the entire class.
The list included crayons, pencils, magic markers and paper of all kinds. One thing they planned to purchase was a loft bed with desk for the bedroom. This would encourage great study and reading habits as the girls grew older.
A loft bed gives more space to play in and a desk provides storage space. They decided to take the girls shopping later in the week. There were three or four furniture stores to check out to see what was available.
They discussed the safety factors of loft beds in general. Safety was important, of course. The attractive appearance was also important. The kids had to like the way they looked.
The neighbors planned a shopping trip to the furniture stores and the local mall. They wanted to get school things while they were on sale. They knew the girls would want to stop for ice cream on the way home.
They loved staring at all the flavors behind the glass counter at the ice cream store. They always had such a hard time choosing. It was best to stop for ice cream after shopping because they would be sticky after eating the ice cream.
That evening one mother sat at the counter, on the modern bar stools, and told her husband about the shopping plans for later in the week. They prepared salads and sipped cool drinks as they discussed prices of beds and clothes. They agreed on a budget limit on school clothes.
Knowing how fast kids grew, they didn’t want to buy too many clothes in the same size. They both loved the idea of a loft bed for their daughter’s room. It would last many years and save space in the bedroom.
