Greece first introduced the luxurious Flokati style to the world. Woven as coats for protection from the cold winter winds, the earliest use of Flokati design were stated to be around the 5th century. Imitation Floakti area rugs are made with artificial and man made fabrics which are generally mass produced.

Flokati area rugs with its luxurious coat of hair do not require strenuous efforts in cleaning. They can be easily rinsed in water with mild detergent. Use of chemicals on these rugs should however be avoided.
