PostHeaderIcon Tips On Decorating A Baby’s Room

Expecting a baby is an exciting time, but it is also a busy one. One of the most exciting things to plan is the baby’s room. How are you going to decorate it? Which colors will be best? What furniture will you need? What home decor accents will you use?

There are so many considerations when designing a baby’s room and this is made even more difficult if you do not know whether it will be a boy or a girl. If this is your situation, when choosing a color scheme you have two basic choices. Firstly, you can choose a neutral color for the walls and furniture and then add color accents in blue or pink after the baby is born. These accents can be pictures, light fittings, bedding and toys.

The other option you have is to choose a color scheme that is not restricted to a boy or a girl. Keep away from pink and blue, and instead choose yellow, green, white or aqua as your main colors, and again add pink or blue accents when baby arrives. Remember that it is usually recommended to keep to pastel tones, which promote rest, for a baby’s room.

You might like to choose a theme for the baby’s room and this again is easier if you know for certain you are having a girl or a boy. However, it is still possible to go with an animal, garden or nursery rhyme theme that will be suitable for both girls and boys. Disney is a popular theme for baby’s rooms too, and one that can carry through the toddler years. You can get beautiful Disney baby bedding, curtains, wall hangings and pictures to complement the theme.

Decide what pieces of furniture you need. New nursery furniture can be quite expensive, so ask your friends who have older children; they may still be storing their nursery furniture but have no further need for it. Also look around yard sales for secondhand furniture; this just needs to be sanded and a fresh coat of paint applied to look like new, and you have the added thrill of having done it all yourself.

Personalize your baby’s room with those little extra items that make it all your own. You might add some pictures of you as a baby or current photos of the baby’s grandparents, particularly if they live away from you. Look for unique bedding for your baby; there are some beautiful ranges of designer baby bedding available that really add to a room. If you have a strict budget, watch out for sales at your favorite baby store and grab special pieces while they are on sale.

Make your baby’s room a special place to welcome your new little one into your home and life.
